Intellidex expands global capital markets with appointment Attard Montalto

Johannesburg – Intellidex has today appointed Peter Attard Montalto as Head of Capital Markets Research to expand its depth of research and widen its client base among global investors.

Peter will lead Intellidex’s coverage of economics, politics and fixed income markets in South Africa and the rest of the sub-Saharan region. He brings a strong fixed income competency to complement Intellidex’s existing equities research capability.

Peter will be based in London, travelling regularly to South Africa and the rest of Africa. He will interact with global investors, corporations and local financial institutions.

Peter joins Intellidex with 12 years of sell-side investment banking experience, during which time he became a thought leader on South African economics and politics, quoted frequently in global media.

Dr Stuart Theobald, Executive Chairman of Intellidex said, “We are excited to welcome Peter to the Intellidex team. Peter’s insightful and fiercely independent perspectives on policy and economics have long served investors well and make a strong fit with Intellidex’s research and consulting services. Peter will be working across our client base to bring his deep insights into economics and politics – so crucial in the run up to the elections in South Africa.”

Peter said: “This is a very exciting time to be joining Intellidex. MIFID II is reshaping the research landscape, not just in Europe, as investors think hard about the type, quality and independence of the research they receive.

“With so much going on now in South Africa in the run up to the 2019 election, an independent offshore perspective is more valuable than ever to investors and other decision makers. The rest of the continent is also at a key junction given increased indebtedness in an environment of tightening global liquidity, with China and the IMF set to play a complex role in the future of those economies.”

Intellidex has recently expanded its global operations by establishing an office in Boston under the leadership Dr Graunt Kruger who heads Intellidex’s financial services strategy consulting. Peter adds capacity in Intellidex’s London office while supporting the capital markets team in Johannesburg.
