Lameez Omarjee is senior analyst on infrastructure and the just energy transition.She will be contributing to Krutham’s research on the just energy transition and related policies that shape energy reforms.
Before joining Krutham, Lameez was News24’s climate editor. Having started her career as a business journalist, tracking the impacts of the energy crisis, corruption and the COVID-19 pandemic on South Africa’s economy, she developed a keen interest in the country’s sustainable development path.
Lameez subsequently completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Sustainable Development from Stellenbosch University in 2021. Lameez is also a Wits University alumna and holds a Bachelor of Commerce Honours degree in Marketing and Management (2013) and a Bachelor of Arts Honours degree in Journalism and Media Studies (2014).
In 2024 she completed a fellowship with the Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism at oxford University. Her research focused on how newsrooms can improve the way they report on the just energy transition.
Lameez has also completed fellowships with the Danish International Development Agency, and the US’ International Visitor Leadership Program.
