Press release: Nkosie Shange joins Krutham as research manager, political economy and policy

2 February 2026 – Krutham has appointed Nkosie Shange as research manager, political economy and policy.

Nkosie will support Krutham’s work at the intersection of politics, policy and economics, helping clients understand how macroeconomic, political developments, reform trends and geopolitical dynamics affect growth, investment and financial markets. His responsibilities include research, forecasting, client advisory and stakeholder engagement across South Africa’s changing political and economic landscape.

Krutham’s political economy practice helps clients understand the interaction between the economy, politics and policy. This work includes tracking legislative developments, monitoring macro- and micro-reform progress and analysing political dynamics at all levels of government. The goal is to translate complex processes into clear insights for planning and decision-making.

Nkosie has experience in economic and policy research, focusing on macroeconomic shocks and the interaction of fiscal and monetary policy. He is completing a PhD in Economics at the University of Pretoria, where his research explores macroeconomic and policy dynamics in South Africa. Before joining Krutham, Nkosie worked at the Bureau for Economic Research (BER), University of Pretoria and National Treasury.

“Politics and policy have direct implications for growth, investment, trade and risk – we are particularly seeing this as different parts of government pull in different directions in a complex global environment,” says Peter Attard Montalto. “Nkosie adds depth and leadership to our practice. For our clients, he strengthens our ability to help advise corporate and investor leaders understand where opportunities and risks are playing out.”

Krutham’s political economy team advises portfolio investors, FDI investors, financial sector and corporate leaders in South Africa and offshore through a range of retainer, subscription and one-off advisory work.
