Krutham MD Peter Attard Montalto joins Stephen Grootes on 702’s The Money Show to discuss the potential implications of US tariffs and the government’s response.

“I think ultimately Trump wants deals and he’s using the tariffs to try to get people to align more closely with the US. That’s why the EU, India and places that didn’t have as wide a gap are now much closer to reaching a deal and are expected to do a deal soon. But the US is also highlighting a number of asymmetries in what South Africa offers. There’s a big difference between accepting low tariffs on chicken imports from the EU versus very high tariffs on chicken imports from the US. The US is asking why that gap is so large,”  says Peter Attard Montalto.
