Krutham executive chairperson Dr Stuart Theobald joins the Money Show with Stephen Grootes on 702 to discuss the sad case of Ithala and the limping Post Bank.

“From all the evidence I’ve seen, Ithala is insolvent. That is also the view of the Reserve Bank. And indeed, some of Ithala’s own documents have indicated that the bank is insolvent. The only disagreement is the extent of that insolvency. There is a gap between the amount of deposits that the bank holds and the amount of its assets. Depending on which figures you look at, that gap ranges from R500m to R1.6bn,” says Stuart Theobald.
