Cecilia is a senior analyst in Krutham’s just energy transition (JET) and infrastructure practice. Her work explores the evolving relationship between finance and society, with a particular focus on climate finance.

Cecilia leads Krutham’s work on climate and disaster risk financing across the African continent, including unlocking adaptation finance for vulnerable communities. Her current research also extends to the informal economy and small enterprise development in South Africa, where she is investigating how financing instruments and policy reform can catalyse employment and inclusive growth.

Before joining Krutham, Cecilia held a postdoctoral position with the SA-UK Bilateral Chair in Political Theory, hosted by Wits University. During this tenure, she focused on affordable housing finance, urban transformation and the politics of consumer credit reports. She has extensive experience in qualitative research, including collaborations with an NGO that focuses on social protection policymaking and food and nutrition security.

Cecilia holds a PhD in political studies from Wits University, where she examined the role of sovereign credit ratings in emerging markets.
